From the outside, my path looks a little unconventional, and honestly, I love that for me. I’ve never been great at coloring inside the lines, even as a kid. Rules, uniforms, expectations… They always felt like someone else’s stifling version of how to exist and I wanted the freedom to chart my own course and express myself in my own way.
That pull toward freedom took me everywhere. Sometimes literally. My husband and I spent nearly a decade traveling across the U.S. and Asia. Eating gumbo in New Orleans, watching the sunrise in the Himalayas, sipping luwak coffee in Indonesia, and hiking the green sand beach in Hawaii (just to name a few). Each place left its mark, and in the end, I became a more grounded person with a deeper understanding of what it means to connect with others across our differences.

Like any good story, though, mine came with a plot twist. While we were traveling, my health began to suffer, and I was forced to slow down.
I had to step away from work completely, and for a while, I felt lost, even surrounded by all the beauty. Eventually, I found myself writing about my everyday and deeply human moments for a digital magazine.
For five years, that work gave me a sense of purpose and reminded me how healing it is to express yourself openly and be met with understanding instead of judgment.
Eventually, I shifted my focus toward marketing, where I could use my storytelling skills to help others share what they do with the world. I started with copywriting and social content, but something was missing. There was always a deeper layer I couldn’t quite name.
It wasn’t until I began working on brand development projects that everything clicked. I realized that this was the thread that tied everything in my career together. Helping people express who they are through their brand became my newest passion.
TruYou Media grew out of that love.
